Jacob Kato (Ugandan) is the Technical Specialist - System Development at the Secretariat. He holds a Master’s Degree in Data Communication and Software Engineering (2016) and Bachelors of Science in Computer Science (2005) from Makerere University, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified System Administration (MSCA), Postgraduate Certificate in Project Planning and Management, CCNA certifications and Virtual Machine Ware certification.
Jacob has experience of over 14 years in ICT and Computer Networks prior joining RUFORUM, he worked as Systems Administrator at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FCIT), Makerere University for 3 years (2006-2009), Then joined Compuscan CRB Limited, a Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) in 2009 as a Senior Technical Helpdesk Consultant to provide technical support to Commercial Banks and Micro Finances (MDI) using Financial Card System and Credit Bureau System in Uganda. Later joined Group 4 Security (G4S) Uganda as Network Administrator from 2010 to 2014, where he was involved in different activities such as administering LAN, VPN and WAN, performing remote installations, onsite and offsite backups of critical data, administering firewalls,financial system, as well as end user IT support. He joined ITWS Specialists (U) Limited as Technical Manager in 2014 to oversee different projects such as website design, software development, liaising with the software development team to ensure the software developed meets the stated requirements in Customer Agreement, overseeing networking (Data, Voice, CCTV) projects and ensuring they are well documented and Conducting ICT consultations
