Dr. Arfang Badji (Senegalese) is the Senior Program Officer for Community Engagement at the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), where he spearheads a broad array of action-oriented research and outreach initiatives. His work is anchored in bridging innovative agricultural science knowledge, products, and services with the practical needs of smallholder farmers and other agrifood stakeholders throughout Africa. In this capacity, he supports experiential learning programs, facilitates strategic partnerships among universities and TVET institutions, and coordinates the last-mile delivery of agricultural innovations to local communities. Drawing on a PhD in Plant Breeding and Biotechnology from Makerere University, he has contributed to numerous research projects on climate-smart crop improvement, seed systems development, and integrated value chain approaches. Over the years, he has secured and managed capacity-building grants, guided postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows in various domains, including biometrics and molecular genetics, and contributed significantly to peer-reviewed publications. His dedication to participatory methods, collaborative networks, and practical skill-building aligns firmly with RUFORUM’s mission: advancing agricultural development and empowering communities across sub-Saharan Africa.
