Professor Mahamoudou Famanta was born in 1956 in Mali. He holds a PhD in Agro chemistry / Soil Fertilization, obtained at the Faculty of Rural Economy of Patrice Lumumba University of Moscow (former USSR).
Prof Famanta has completed several advanced courses, especially on the use of P32 in studies on the dynamics of phosphorus in the soil, the evaluation of the effectiveness of phosphate fertilizers and the rooting of plants; Results-Based Management; and Quality assurance.
Prior to his recent appointment as Minister of HESR, he was the Director General of the Polytechnic Rural Institute of Training and Applied Research (IPR / IFRA) and Coordinator of the regional commission of development of the training modules of the Local Irrigation Subsector Support Program (PASSIP-2), in the Koulikoro region.
Married and father of 7 children, Professor Mahamoudou Famanta is fluent in Russian and French.

Né en 1956 à Ségou, Professeur Mahamoudou  Famanta est titulaire d’un Ph.D en Agrochimie/Fertilisation des sols, de la Faculté d’Economie Rurale de l’Université Patrice Lumumba de Moscou (ex-URSS).

Il a fait plusieurs Stage de perfectionnement, notamment sur l’Utilisation du P32   dans les études sur la dynamique du phosphore dans le sol, l’évaluation de l’efficacité des engrais phosphatés  et  l’enracinement  des  plantes ; la Gestion Axée sur les Résultats; et la démarche Qualité.

Le Professeur Mahamoudou FAMANTA était jusqu’à sa nomination récente Directeur Général de l’Institut Polytechnique Rural de Formation et de Recherche Appliquée (IPR/IFRA) et Coordinateur des activités de la  commission régionale d’élaboration des modules de formation du Programme d’Appui au Sous-secteur de l’Irrigation de Proximité (PASSIP-2), dans la région de Koulikoro.

Marié et père de 7 enfants, le Professeur Mahamoudou Famanta s’exprime couramment en russe et en français.
