Professor Fatima Batul Mukhtar obtained a Degree in Botany in 1984 from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She Undertook National Youth Service Corps at Forestry Division, Ministry of Agriculture, Kano State. She did her Master’s degree at Bayero University Kano in 1994 and subsequently got employed with the same University as assistant Lecturer in 1994. She completed her Ph.D program in Botany (Plant Physiology) in 2005. She rose through the ranks to Senior Lecturer in 2003, Associate Professor in 2007 and Professor in 2010. Professor Fatima Batul served in various capacities including Head of Department, Editor to many journals, accreditation committee, External Examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in some Universities. Professor Fatima Batul became the pioneer Dean of Faculty of Science at the newly established University, Northwest University Kano where she held academic and administrative responsibilities and chaired various committees. She was appointed pioneer Deputy Vice Chancellor Northwest University in 2015 and Vice Chancellor of Federal University Dutse in February 2016. Professor Fatima Batul has published widely in National and International Journals and authored 3 books. She founded the popular and first of its kind the Kano Botanical Garden single handedly in 2008. Professor Fatima Batul is married with 5 grown up daughters. Her hubby includes: Reading, Writing, Travelling and Gardening
