Head of the Institute of Automatic Control Engineering

Hubert Roth is head of the Institute of Automatic Control Engineering and director of the Centre for International Capacity Development (CICD) at the University of Siegen, Germany. He received the diploma and the Dr.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Karlsruhe, Department for Control Systems. After his PhD he was working for several years as an Engineer at in the field of aerospace. He was involved in the project of the German X-Ray Satellite (ROSAT) being responsible for the integration and test of the attitude and orbit control subsystem. After this industrial experience he came back to academia. Since 2001 Hubert Roth is head of the Institute of Automatic Control Engineering at the University Siegen and since 2012 also director of the CICD.

Hubert Roth participated in several research projects concerning intelligent sensor systems, control and tele-servicing in robotics, he was main researcher in several projects of the European Union, the German Research Association (DFG) and the German Ministry of Education and Research. He is a Member of the IFAC Technical Committee on Sensor Components and Instruments and was chairing the IFAC Technical Committee on Computer and Telematics. He has been a Programme Committee member and section chairman at various international conferences.

Prof. Roth was Visiting Professor at the University of London, King’s College, London, UK, and at the Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand. Since 2009 he is Honorary Professor at the Polytechnic in Timisoara, Romania, and in 2013 he got the title Doctor honoris causa from this University.
