Maurice Ogoma holds a Bachelor degree in Environmental Science from Egerton University, Kenya and Master of Science degree in Tropical Aquatic Ecology from University of Bremen, Germany. He has worked for National Museums of Kenya as a Research Fellow, Nature Kenya as a Conservation Program Officer and as a Senior Fisheries Officer at the Kenya’s Ministry of Fisheries Development. Currently, he is an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Natural Resources, Egerton University and a PhD student at the Faculty of Environment and Resource Development (FERD). He has received support from RUFORUM through TAGDev Program to conduct his research on “Evaluating the performance of beach management units in implementing fisheries co-management approach in Lake Turkana, Kenya”. In his PhD project, he is assessing the effectiveness of community level co-management institutions in implementing fisheries policy and the implications for food security under the new dispensation of political decentralization in Kenya. His interests include natural resources management, climate change, food security and policy research
