To pilot the regional PhD programme in Agricultural and Rural Innovation (ARI), facilitate online delivery of some modules for reduction of cost of implementation, and bring together centres of excellence and experimentation
Project Outputs:
1)Facilitate mobility of students and staff for capacity strengthening of the partner institutions and mutual learning; 2)Reduce cost of mobility and enable wider access to ARI PhD programme through online delivery of some modules; 3)Establish national stakeholder platforms to guide training and research in agricultural and rural innovation; 4)Link ARI and Agtrain for mutual learning and experimentation between students and staff from East Africa and Europe
Lessons:
Provided opportunity for RUFORUM to support member Universities access funding for curriculum development and systems thinking orientation as emerging institutional strengthening, training and research opportunities in line with core area 2. Project was lead by Makerere University in partnership with Egerton and Sokoine. RUFORUM facilitated proposal development and partnership building but had limited implementation role.
