Biography

Pauline Gangla is an Education Specialist with 24 years of experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of donor funded programs in the international development sector. She Heads the Higher Education Collaboratives at Mastercard Foundation which are large strategic partnerships with groups of organizations who work towards shared outcomes to enable work opportunities for young people.

She previously led the Scholars Program which is the Foundation’s Education and Leadership development program which enables young people in Africa to attain inclusive and quality education, and to transition smoothly into dignified and fulfilling work which includes entrepreneurship and employment.

In her previous role, she led various Education initiatives including cross regional education reform projects, basic education, Scholarships for study in the UK, Research, Science and Innovation programs mainly funded by the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) at the British Council for 10 years. Prior to this role, she lectured and served as a Program Manager for Executive Education at Strathmore University in Kenya. She spent 5 years of her career studying at Wits and working in South Africa’s development sector managing leadership development and social entrepreneurship programs at Gordon Institute for Business Science (GIBS).

She served as a Non-Executive Director of two education NGOs - Kenya Education Fund and Global Minimum, both funded by the Segal Family Foundation. These NGOs provide opportunities for young people to access quality education at the secondary education level, innovate, problem solve and demonstrate leadership.

Pauline holds a Master’s degree in Public & Development Management from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, a Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree from Kenyatta University and a postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management from the Kenya Institute of Management.

She is currently pursuing a Global Diploma in Professional Coaching. She is an Executive Leadership Coach, a motivational speaker and a mentor steering people to success in their career and personal lives
